          For Secondary School Students

 

Toni wants to tile her rectangular bathroom floor which is 5 metres long and 3 metres wide. She has selected 15 cm x 15 cm tiles from a nearby hardware. The cost of each tile is $13.50.


(a) What is the total area of her bathroom floor in square centimetres?


(b)How many 15 x 15 tiles will Toni need to cover the area of her bathroom floor?


(c) How much is Toni's bill if the transportation cost is $150, and she intends to buy thirty (30) extra tiles in the event of breakage while transporting the tiles to her home?
